CALL FOR PAPERS:

The 5th International SEARCH Conference offers an occasion for experts, academics and researchers alike to come together to consider pressing issues in an open forum; seeking to define questions, pursue answers, search for research synergies and more; to both reflect on the recent past, and look forward to the future; to exchange ideas and findings in a congenial atmosphere.

Our conference theme is ‘Social Media in Focus’; a title that speaks of a twin aim of recognizing the growing importance of social media and the need to be aware of its excesses. We hope to foster sophisticated dialogue regarding communication issues that arise from handling social media as well as the risks that it brings with it. This requires recognizing that social media is here to stay and also foster academic debate about its influence in modern life.

We encourage participation in the conference through the presentation of original papers focusing on the main theme and the following sub-themes:

Social Media Governance and Politics
Ethical issues and Social Media
Identity formation and politics
Internet Governance
Crisis management
Identity politics
Consumer psychology
Digital Natives
Cultural Convergence
Mass media convergence
Social capital
Privacy issues
Diffusion of innovation


We welcome contributions related to the above themes from any discipline, including but not limited to:

Language and Linguistics
Education
Advertising
Journalism
Public Relations and Marketing
Media Studies
Psychology and other disciplines within the humanities

Abstracts of proposed papers in the range of 200-300 words should be submitted by email to Ms. Nurzihan Hassim at [email protected] – by 31 December 2016. The proposals should include the title, name, affiliation, email address and a short biographical note of about 60-80 words in length. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 15 January 2017.

After the conference, selected papers will be published in our SEARCH Journal (Scopus) (September 2018 edition) after a rigorous peer-review process.
