International Conference on Applied Economics and Policy (ICAEP) 2017

The Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEA) at the University of Malaya is the oldest economics faculty in Malaysia. Since its inception in 1966, the FEA has contributed significantly to the national development agenda by providing research analyses that helped shape policies, and by nurturing high-level manpower with expertise in economics. To keep up with emerging development themes, the Faculty’s scope of research has also shifted from rural development, agricultural and primary commodities to the modern secondary and tertiary sectors. Macroeconomic management, monetary economics and finance, international trade, privatisation, technology policy, and human resource development are all areas that have been subject to research.

In today’s borderless world, policy-making has become increasingly challenging as not only domestic factors have to be taken into account but also external shocks emanating from other parts of the world. As the faculty celebrates its 50th anniversary, it is timely to organize a conference to invite academics, researchers, industry players and regulators from around the world to take stock of what has been achieved, discuss economic issues currently faced by the world, bringing to the fore ideas on what policies are needed to surmount challenges both domestic and external. The faculty believes that economic analysis should have direct policy implications that guide policymakers in their quest for the right policies to achieve desired goals. This inaugural International Conference on Applied Economics and Policy (ICAEP) 2017 aims to provide a platform for the interactions and networking among participants from around the world.

ICAEP 2017 welcomes theoretical and empirical research papers in economics with policy focus, which include but not limited to the following academic tracks:
